The
Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVD-19) was firstly outbreak in two Chines
provinces i.e. Wuhan and Hube during late December 2019. It has been spreading across the world and
all Humankind is at jeopardy also World Health
Organization (WHO) declared it as Pandemic. The COVD-19 blowout in 210 countries and territories around the globe and 2 international conveyance and about 1.9+ million people infected, 119,000+ people
died and 459,308 have been recovered throughout the globe from this viral disease. Researcher
suggested that this viral disease transmitted through human to human and other
objects that used or touched by affected person. The incubation period of this disease is about
2 to 14 days and common symptoms are Fever, Cough, and shortness of
breath. Additionally, in case of complications
may include pneumonia and acute
respiratory distress syndrome. Yet, there
is no vaccine available or discovered while the primary
treatment are symptomatic and supportive therapy.
Besides, the
preventive measures as suggested or recommend by researcher and doctors are hand washing,
covering the mouth when coughing, maintaining distance from other people, and monitoring and self-isolation for
people who suspect they are infected. Moreover, this pandemic also spreading
in Pakistan and till now 5,716 cases reported and 96 people expired. Furthermore, 1,387 infected patient recovered and the mortality rate in Pakistan is about 07%.
Consequently, it is a matter of serious
concerns for authorities since its outbreak and also it is on High Alert in
Pakistan and also established national action plane to fight against the
pandemic. In Pakistan the COVD-19 test
is diagnosed only done in hospitals using a special detection kit which is
costly. However, there is no other
mechanism and specially monitoring and tracking of COVD-19 detection is available.
In
modern age of technology, use of technological equipment i.e. computers, Smartphone’s,
Tablets and other devices in health sector has a great potential to encourage
health and maintain healthcare around the world for the surveillance of viral disease. Hence, various studies highlighted
the role of technology for real time surveillance of disease while other for taking the efficient and timely counter
measures against the possible outburst of the disease. Furthermore, due to availability of modern
technology i.e. Smartphone, Global Positioning System (GPS) and better internet
coverage, there is a scope for development of a mobile based application for COVD-19 diagnosing, monitoring, tracking for tacking the preemptive measure to counter the possible
outbreak in Pakistan.
Hence,
it is a dire need for development of a convenient and real time methods of monitoring
and tracking the spread and possible outbreak of pandemic disease.
Therefore, there is a need of time to develop a mobile application to
collect the data from the patients/users to monitor, track the spread of COVD-19
using Smartphone via GPS and also to diagnosis using symptoms. Furthermore, if there is no access or
availability of Smartphone and internet in the rural and remote areas of
Pakistan a Simple Messaging Service (SMS) based data collection model will also be developed which get the data and offer feedback to the patient or user. Finally, the propose model will generate reports, maps of affected areas
from the collected data and then transmitted to the doctors, health authorities
and government agencies for their further necessary course of action and also to
counter measures against this pandemic disease. In addition, the proposed model will also offer a key benefit which will result
in establishing a data repository of COVD-19 patients that can be further used
for COVD-19 outbreak prediction and identification using machine learning
algorithm for further analysis of the collected data of the affected areas in
Pakistan.
